Legio Maria candle vigil

Members of the Legio Maria of African Church Mission celebrate Easter with a candle vigil during holy Saturday at their church in Kibera informal settlement. Legio Maria is an African religious movement predominantly made up of Kenya’s Luo people -but also present in Uganda, Tanzania or Rwanda- who believe in the incarnation of the son of God as a black man. Some 100 church members attended this service to commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus Christ in which is considered Nairobi’s largest slum. (April, 2019)
